Oscar winner A R Rahman launched the theme song for Commonwealth Games 2010. The Group of Minister (GoM) on the Games had approved the song at a meeting, after it heard the rendition of the song.
“We discussed the theme song among ourselves and A R Rahman, (Film Director) Shyam Benegal and (Producer) Bharat Bala. The GoM has approved the theme song in principle.” Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy, who heads the GoM, had said after the meeting.
With just 48 days to go, everyone unanimously voiced the priority is to makes the games a success. Rahman himself requested everyone to give a positive image of India to the world.
According to sources the idea was to ensure that the song becomes a sensation like his own Jai Ho and Soccer World Cup theme song waka Waka
